Dead Man Walking
03:24
|
|||
Kick my feet against the sand, I’m leaving this prison as a free man.
I’ll comb my hair and shine my boots, find my girl, my poison fruit.
She’s waiting for me so she said, I’ll buy her flowers when I sell my cigarettes.
Pretty soon my time is up, they’ll set me free with a fifteen second shock.
Then I will be on your side.
I’ll give my love, they’ll take my life.
Speak my sins confess my heart, tell me preacher, “Will lightness follow dark?”
Forgiveness as a cruel man’s tool, it’ll cut your chains then scorn you as a fool.
I’ll close my eyes and count to three, flowers lay beneath my fastened feet.
Pretty soon my time is up, they’ll set me free with a fifteen second shock.
Then I will be on your side.
I’ll give me love, they’ll take my life.
Dead man walking and these feet are slowing down.
I’ll own this crime, I’ll wear this thorny crown.

Bill's Lost Love
04:12
|
|||
The sky was dark and the moon hung low
Cold enough to shake your bones
I sat amongst the fireside
From here I heard my baby cry
Soldier pines they towered above
And shuddered like some demon shrub
The only sound to cross my mind
Was the howling as the wolves took flight
I looked for her till I lost myself
My throat grew dry from the wishing well
I ventured forward, hands as eyes
To brush out webs and choking vines
With a head so light and heart so low
I felt that I was losing hope
Why would she have gone away
She must have walked and lost her place
I hoped her feet would guide her here
I'd hold her close, expose my fears
I came upon a torn up rag
Tied around a tree to help keep track
A cotton trail brought me home
My baby'd come and left a note
It said "Bill, I love you so much more
My eyes have opened, my heart is torn
I've seen you there with those girls
I've given myself to the gates of pearls"

Freeride Train Blues
04:00
|
|||
I’m hitchin’ on a Freeride Train, Zoomin about as fast as I can go
I’m headin’ in the opposite direction from safety and love and my perfect idea of home
You know this was no choice of mine, my feet and my head have never been all that close
Will you think of me when the morning has come and you’re all alone, all alone?
It’s drizzling through this boxcar door, my smokin hand is stirring up a cloud
I’ll peer right in and see a future, now and then are both filled up with doubt
Wish that you had given me reason, something tangible to glue me down
It’s too late to change your mind, this Freeride Train’s my only lover now
When sun comes up and train slows down I’ll close my eyes and open them again
Breathe the smell of summer rain, this sticky air is welcome as my first
No more heartbreak, no more pain, my soul is new my mind forgetting you
The Freeride Train has brought me home, I’ll never be alone, never be alone, never be alone.

Set in Stone
04:44
|
|||
Tell me what you’re thinkin about
Tell me when you scream it out, it’s coming through the clouds
Baby can you feel the doubt?
It’s pouring in your ears, and coming out your mouth
Remembering the weeks before
The days they pass, the hours are spread across the floor
I was once set in stone and you know
Came the sun and I fall over you
Think of all the things you would say
Calculate the cost of my love, is it worth what you pay?
Nothing goes according to plan
I want to grab the light but the sun keeps on burning my hands
Close your eyes and follow the wall
Deepened cracks will escort your hands to an uncommon shore
I was once set in stone and you know
Came the sun and I fall over you
Heading to the end of the road
Tires are thin and time is running real slow
Feet are feeling weak as a stray
Baby can you carry me home
I was once set in stone and you know
Came the sun and I fall over you

Goodbye Son
03:34
|
|||
Sitting on a hilltop,
Looking down on a town, she is covered all around
In a giant silver blanket,
From her head to her toe, clouds have come from below
The cold, it make me weary. Like i make my decisions in the foetal position
I am just about to open my eyes.
See the beauty then I’ll say goodbye
Goodbye son, goodbye son, goodbye son, bye.
My mother's waking up now.
“Can I pour you a cup, you can tell me when to stop.”
People wearing layers.
I am covered all around and I’m freezing in this town.
Wish that I could tell you that I travel to your home and I want to stay long.
But the life I put on standby won't keep me safe, keep me free from responsibility
Mum and Dad are finding what they want to say
"Make sure you ring me, Sam, I wish that you could stay."
Goodbye son, goodbye son, goodbye son, bye.
This is not your home.
Make it on your own my baby boy.
We're only shelter when you get lost.
Watch you slip away.
Goodbye son, goodbye son, goodbye son, bye.
Goodbye son, to my son, goodbye son, bye.

From the Cold
03:51
|
|||
The weather’s getting wetter by the day
Drowning birds and swallowing the sky
I’m building me a boat and leaving this place
I will be my own
Shelter from the cold
I thought I saw a lighthouse on my way
Waited until twilight came and passed
It was something of an image in my mind
Searching night and day
Only empty space
I'm looking out the window of my home
Myst and rain is filling up my soul
Empty out the basin go to bed
I will be my own
Shelter from the cold

What's Laid Out
05:53
|
|||
I’ve been having dreams
About a man who is ready to believe
That ghostly shadows will save the day
In a world so empty, in a world too empty
And fast paced
Freeze frame for me now
Open my gaze
I want to see whats laid out
This traffic in the city is keeping me up all night
The curtains are so blurry, the darkness is filled with light
If only I could be there
In the dreamscape from my mind
Take those ghostly sort of figures
To the world where people sigh
I’m lagging
Freeze frame for me now
Open my gaze
I want to see whats laid out
There's a man with a suitcase leaving his wife behind
Woke up in the morning, he’d been sleeping for most of his life
When a line can lead you to safety
And a circle will leave you behind
Conflict of interest is all it comes down to
Enjoying the small things in life
The calvary saves the day
Freeze frame for me now
Open my gaze
I want to see whats laid out

Cannonball
02:46
|
|||
I’ll speak these words from deep within my heart.
Like a typical poet, I’ll yield myself and this I will not fight.
I know it’s taken me so long.
Think this song like a simmering stew.
The time is right to sing it for you.
I will protect you from the things that fly,
Use myself as a human shield and hold you tight.
Wake you from the night terrors that haunt your dreams,
Sing you songs and send you drifting back to sleep.
My love is like a cannonball in the deepest ocean, blue.
Don’t you know it baby that it only falls for you.
To tell the truth, I think of you night and day.
Not a single moment passes when I’m not wondering if you’re OK.
You are my red and green and blue.
Don’t you understand my girl, my world is colourless without you.

Sense of Space
02:29
|
|||
I don't wanna be your baby, I just wanna be yours
Try and be the only of person that you ain't lookin for
Send me to a lonesome place and throw away the key
Stuck inside forever more, here is where I'm free
I'll choose
I never wanna lose
With you I trade
My sense of space
Try and hold me all the time, you'd think I need to breathe
I still like to keep you close, my freedom is a sea
The boat is small and I am tall, I need to stretch sometimes
I wish that you had brought your own, this here boat it is mine
Selfish
when I return to shore
You will steal my oars
sometimes I like to drift
Think I hear a pleading, it's coming from below
The bleeding of your heart my girl, its spread across the floor
Pick it up and put it back I hope that it will stay
Hoping's what I don't do best, this thread is gonna break
I pray
Come a day that I will feel the same
You will know my name
It'll be yours too

Sleeping Spirits
04:07
|
|||
Sink into my bones
I will fill you with my whole
As we drift towards an open sky,
Planets track and stars ignite
Technicoloured dreams
Of my only flowing free
I’ll be the words you be my melody
Emanating softly on a moonbeam stream
All I want for you
Is an easy reason to choose
An open space where you belong
Hold your breath it won’t take long
Embers rise and fall
From the fires of our souls
Our sleeping spirits face a lengthy fall
The morning seeping through an open door
All I want for you
Is an easy reason to choose
An open space where you belong
Hold your breath it won’t take long
All I want for you
Is an easy reason to choose
An open space where you belong
Hold your breath it won’t take long

The Justice Saga
05:48
|
|||
Let me tell you a story about a time from long ago.
Guns were the law and the people were on their own
The cops were bent like rubber and the judges all paid off.
Justice was as worthless as the value of life and love
The nights were getting darker and the days forever long,
Blood was on the street-signs, someone had to take action
The gods.. They abandoned this place
Let's isolate a man who never did no wrong.
Wrongly accused for killing wife and daughter and son.
They threw him in the blackest cell with windows painted on.
Three long years of torture leaked the name that did him wrong
The King.
This conjured up a fury that would build and build and build.
Breaking through the shackles on a rampage that would never yield.
He said "I am but a man who is searching for the King.
Bring him to my feet or you will feel my sting.
I'm cleaning up this town and I'll avenge my own.
Step into my way and I will tear your bloody soul.”
The priest, the judge, the jury, they were all upon his list.
Interrogated one by one. A voice inside him whispered: ”guilty"
The pocket of one brutalised revealed a torn up note
In it smudged directions to a hidden place an hour up the coast
He came upon some men, they tried to pull him limb from limb.
The cracking of thunder. All of them met their end.
"Unstoppable" they called him. Smell the fear upon the breeze.
Criminals were pleading with the man they called the King.
He burst open the door. A battle cried out from his lungs.
He picked off all the henchmen: one by twenty-one.
He screamed "I am but a man who is searching for the King.
Bring him to my feet or you will feel my sting.
I'm cleaning up this town and I'll avenge my own.
Step into my way and I will tear your bloody soul."
The bodies scattered everywhere with one arm stretching out.
Pointed at the lonely figure standing with his arms by his side.
His face began to lower and his mouth began to move,
The final words to exit were as liquid sticks to glue
He said, “Kill me if you think your pain will disappear.
Death may be what I deserve, my conscience is clear.
I found the chalk and made my mark now that's only fair."
A single shot of silence brought the end to that man there.
